Ash Wednesday

Please join us for our Ash Wednesday 8 a.m. service followed by a light breakfast.  Please enter through the Franklin Street doors.  Parking available in the lot behind the church.

Playing in the Park

We started Playing in the Park Session #2 which runs through February 9th.  On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays children from McKinley and Ramos fill our Fellowship Hall to play, do homework, crafts, knit and have a meal.  Plans with Master Gardeners continue to plan a program for the Playing in the Park children which will inspire the future gardeners of America!  Well, maybe not America, but hopefully Allentown.  The children will learn how to plant seeds, take care of the plants until it's time to plant them in the community garden.  With a grant from SunLV, we will be able to purchase grow lights to help the plants thrive.  We are in the process of lining up several presentations from the Master Gardeners on "Eat a Rainbow", "Plant the Perfect Pizza", "Plant Science Basics" to name a few.

Through the Morning Call's "Be An Angel" campaign, St. Stephen's received gifts cards and donations totaling $750.00 for our Playing the Park Program.

St. Stephen's has had two playground planning sessions and on February 1st, will host a meeting with Greg Weitzel, Director of Parks and Recreation. At this meeting we will present our vision for Franklin Park to the City of Allentown. We will try to stress the benefits of our vision to be a passive park in inner city Allentown in hopes the City is willing to help us realize that vision.

If you would be interested in volunteering, please speak with Laura Klick or Pastor Maritza.

Summer Youth Program

Christ/St. Stephen's have been meeting with Mariah Tjeltveit, Pastor of Church of the Mediator, Community Bike Works and other local churches planning a summer youth program for middle school children.  Our next meeting is on February 2nd at Christ Lutheran.

Franklin Seniors

The Franklin Seniors group would like to extend an invitation to join their group.  They meet every Wednesday, bring your own lunch at noon, or come when the meeting starts at 1 p.m.  They are a very active group playing cards or Bingo Raffles, birthday celebrations, book exchanges, banquets, bus trips and more.  Bring a friend along when you come!!  Plenty of free parking available in the lot behind the church.
